I have been bitless with my horse for about 6 months now and we are both loving it! I haven’t actually bought a proper bitless bridle for him yet, I have just taken the bit off his usual bridle and added steel rings to it. I have borrowed a cross under bridle from a friend for him but the release is rubbish and he gets confused with turning. I want a bridle that doesn’t slip around his face when turning. Can you get jowl straps separate? Is a sidepull the best option? Or one that crosses under the chin? Any help appreciated!

I ride my ex racer in an English hackamore. We do everything in it! I use a Zilco synthetic bridle & a Zilco hackamore, so no tack cleaning :).

Its best to determine which type of pressure your horse responds best to and then choose the bridle to match that. The choices other make for their bit-less bridles are not - to be honest - terribly relevant. The key is to understand your horse as an individual. Not follow the herd.
