Hi,
I am looking to get a velvet hat for dressage and showing, but am thrown at the choice and esp the safety standards. I would like a navy velvet hat with leather harness. Will obv go and try a load on (prob derby house as they have the biggest range around here) but wondered if I could get peoples opinions on the ones they have? I would like to avoid the bobble head look I am currently sporting with my skull cap, but def don't want to sacrifice safety for this. I can't decipher the different safey standards so am a bit stuck! Would just like to be more informed before I go and try them on and spend a stack of £!
Thanks for your advice!

Well it depends what fits! Charles Owen do the H2000 and the "Fiona" which are different shapes, but both are very smart. Champion do the Grand Prix one, which is what i would go for as Champion always come out superbly in the safety tests, and fit me well :p

Hi guys, thanks for all the help! WIll def go for the best fitting one, but still seems an awful lot of choice - I am fortunate to not have a wonky shaped head so tend to get some choice when getting a new hat! I think I will stick with Champion or Charles Owen - I think they are the only ones made in the UK? - which makes me feel better about the safety standards they adhere to, though I could be way off the mark on that one!!

Ditto above, Charles and Owen do a few different styles, show hat, then the Fiona and the showjumper, I have the older version of the showjumper that I used for showing may years ago although just use it for everday use now, I often get asked if its a Patey!

Love C&O hats :)

Charles Owen H2000. I've got the showjumper one as well (my H2000 is brown, the showjumper navy) and I don't think it looks quite as smart. Pricey but worth it and lasts forever if you look after it. Make sure you buy a hat bag - they stop them fading or getting bashed.
