So I have to admit to never jumping Bodey in boots but my new jumping instructor suggested it might be best to get some, prevention better then cure and all that.

So Bodey is a 15hh MW Cob (the piebald in my sig), so what in your opinion is the best type and best make of boots for jumping?

Big thanks.

I always just put cheap brushing boots on but if your going to get serious possibly some tendon boots! in my opinion you want to protect the tendon and you don't want them to get cut or scratched but if you put huge great thick boots on there legs theyb learn to be more careless jumping and are more likely to knock things down!

Grow his feathers back, then he has his own boots!

In my experience what ever you can get to fit wide but short legs. I really suggled to fit any for Hattie as she has short, 10" of bone legs so I gave up.

No chance he is having his feathers back, he looks so much smarter without them (plus he would get much hotter and we are doing quite a bit now)!

Thanks anyway!

For showjumping your horse should wear tendon boots, we've got Woof Wear 'Club Tendon Boots' which are smart and don't slip. If you go on the website, they're in the 'Sport Club Range'. Woof Wear Website

For cross country your horse should wear either brushing boots or proper cross country boots. The brushing boots in the 'Sport Club Range' are nice because they are made in loads of different colours.

Overreach boots are personal preferance, some people like them and some people don't bother.

As above, I always had problems finding boots for my cob - as she is short in the cannon bone but wide in the fit - I have had so many different make of boots - including Claredon - but they twizzle round her legs no matter how tight they go on - and Eskadron Tendon Boots - but they cut the top of her corronet band area as they were too long in that bit and she has a very expressive movement with her "ankles" !!

But - eventually - I found a pair of boots - they are specially made for cobs - in a proper cob manner - not just "smaller than horse" ...... they are ....

N.E.W. Maximum Performance Boots - in Medium / Wide !!! They are short enough to fit her cannon bone but Wide enough to wrap round her legs .... happy days !

The only thing I would agree with is - that they are a full boot more for XC I would say and not just a "pure" show jumping boot - but they do do the trick if you are wanting a boot in a "proper cob" size !!

(it may even be worth checking out the N.E.W site to see if they are doing any more of their range in Medium Wide sizes)

Hope this helps

Woof Wear, Tri Zone (I think) and NEW all make boots in medium wide. Thorowgood do a specific cob size. Unfortuantely I think they are all brushing boot types.
If your going for tendon boots try and get some with a flexi bit behind the knee, stops it digging in, and make sure the tendon protector is tough (I don't like the club tendon boots as I dont think they look strong enough!)
My horse has very short cannons, but 10inch of bone, I use WW boots for everything!! Have the pro tendon and fetlock boots in large/xlarge for SJ and double lock brushing boots in medium wide and xlarge for XC/hunting.
Also have some equilibrium training wraps for flat/hacking.

Woof wear are also good for over reach boots for big footed horses! Although I never use mine!

I would love a pair of the vented tendon and XC boots, but I cant justify MORE new boots!!
