HI, I'm looking at getting a new vehicle to use for towing my horse, but it also needs to be my regular run around. I'm looking for something to tow an ifor 505 trailer with mainly just my 14'2 welsh cob. I don't want to spend more than £6k, and I don't want something that is really thirsty on fuel. I quite like the Nissan Navara's but don't know much about them. What do you use to tow your horse??

L200 is what i like, love mine

watch <05 plates Nivaras as there was major engine problems , with some kind if rod I think smashing through the engine.

Isuzu trooper 3.1td - the ultimate budget vehicle!!!!

Mine cost £450 off ebay, in the wet horrible days of summer I loaded it up with half a ton of rubber matting then drove it through a swollen ford, never blinked...

We zoom around off road moving jumps about on the back of it

Pulls about 3 tons

Heated seats, air con, brill heater, electric mirrors, hot and cold running buttons for this and that....

Returns 25-35 mpg too

I have an l200 but older shape and diesel. Don't really like it much for towing, mostly due to the ridiculous turning circle. The newer ones are much better.

I also have a jeep grand Cherokee 4l petrol which is converted to lpg. I much prefer this for towing and the lpg is only 70 p a litre so makes me much happier at the pump.

Cannot help on MPGs but the members towing vehicle and trailer combinations thread is in my signature below

the members gave their own ratings out of 10 for their set ups

I am assuming you have a B+E licence either by passing a test that covers it or by passing your car test before 1997 ?

I am indeed old enough to have passed my test just before 1997!, I have done quite a bit of towing as i did have an old Hilux but sold it recently to get a car, but miss not being able to tow. Thanks for the replies, think i might have a look at the L200 but try and get as new as possible
