best bute substitute?

any ideas on best bute substitute?

my arab is feeling his age a little but LOVES work, vet has thoroughly checked him and says just to bute him before longer rides/competitions etc. However i do feel he needs a bit more than that and am wondering about e.g. devils claw, substi-bute, all those (I know they're roughly the same - but any ideas on what hsa worked for you)?

it's just general wear and tear and he thinks slight degeneration in the hoof - nothing major.

My friend uses nobute, it's a liquid, she is seeing some results with that.

Sorry I'd have to agree. The only thing I think made any difference was the global herbs one at the highest dose. But it worked out at about 4 times the cost of bute and wasn't as effective. My horse has been on 1, sometimes 2, sachets a day for 10 years and has no ill effects (she has had full blood analysis done several times and was scoped twice last year and no ulcers.)

It is utterly inhumane and cruel to with hold pain relief where it is necessary.
