Looking for a calmer for a horse that is normally very calm (even lazy!) then has flip outs sometimes. She is a 13 year old warmblood mare. Some people have recommended Nupafeed... any recommendations? Also does anyone use the calmer syringes, as they would be a more economic option?

The nupafeed syringes are brill, had excellent results using them on my very very worried horse when travelling - so.much so that i wrote and told them.how pleased i was!!

I've heard good things about nupafeed & oxyshot as instant calmers - I've personally found the global herbs instant calmer very effective.
As a more general calmer I found the Topspec one fab! - I used it with my late gelding as he was a worrier and always on edge, it chilled him out without making him lazy and really settled him, I was really impressed with it.

Start with diet is it balanced? No point spending lots of money on supplements when a simple balance of a diet may be all that is required. Calories in = calories out (for maintenance) vits and mins in balance and in correct quanities. Cut sugars like molasses. Oil lowers GI of feeds. Free access to salt.

A lot of it comes down to training and groundwork.

All those expensive syringes contain magnesium. Just buy a bag of magox. Add it to feed.

As maccachic says... always check the diet first.

RelaxMe by FirstHorse - quite expensive but it works. Lavender oil soaked rag - hung in the stable. All the magnesium based calmers will only work if your horse is magnesium defiicient.
