Dad is looking to upgrade his camera soon as its starting to get a bit old and was wondering what do you recommend? Dad isnt the best at pictures but wont admit it, apparently its always the camera's fault, not good enough, not high spec enough.... the usual guff so is looking for a good allround camera, high res and i've also convinced him he needs something thats good at taking action shots as majority of the pics of me riding include, the horses legs, head, bum, me decapitated or the rest are a complete blur and i would like some nice pics of me on my pony! Must be easy to use as dad's a techno phobe and biggie is that it must be reasonably priced. Thankies in advance

Fuji Finepix S9000 (or it might have been superceded by another model number) is what I use for work.
It's a compact digital rather than an SLR but has lots of manual settings if he wants to get technical! It's also chunky and robust - my work involves lots of dust and mud etc
In auto it has seven point focusing so it will do action shots well, and has a good lens for long distance stuff. Think mine was about £250 - Warehouse Express are good for Fuji.
However, if you want a lot of indoor jumping shots etc you will need a digital SLR which is a bit more pricey and complex
