My 5 yr old rides my 13.2 pony. She hasn't ridden for about 9 months as he was ill last year and she is a fair weather rider. She has always ridden in a cub saddle but suddenly is too big and long in the leg and it puts her in a very odd position. Ideally I don't want to spend a fortune as she rides very sporadically and no one else rides him. Has anyone any suggestions eg wintec redi ride etc ? Obviously her safety is paramount and I'll spend on a 'proper' saddle if needed.

I think you are best getting a saddle fitter out to advise. Do you have one near you who will carry second hand stock?

I really like the Thorowgood Pony Club saddles, they seem to fit most ponies/children. The newer ones have adjustable gullets. They are comfy too as I've had to borrow my sons saddle, off of his 12.2, to use on my 15hh con whilst mine is at the saddlers!.

The TG PC saddle isn't bad on some ponies, it won't fit all. Ponies are not the easiest to fit and so a cheap solution isn't always possble. Not seen that Wintec one.

A saddler with a lot of good second hand stock is probably your best bet. Ponies are not always the easiest to fit and the last thing you need is ned protesting a poorly fitted saddle by bucking. For what its worth - I rate Barnsby Pony Club saddles. (Yes - I know they went out of business last year - but you will still find them second hand.) I really prefer leather to synthetic and they are still really adjustable by a good saddler.

I have a Wintec pony saddle and it fits my 14hh and 13.2 ponies really well.. I have the dressage version (I'm short so struggle with normal dressage saddles, which is part of the reason I have the pony version) but someone on my yard has the GP on their pony and they really rate it too.
