Best clipper blades for the wire wool esque regrowth?

Am 're-clipping H tomorrow and he has quite a lot of wire wool type long regrowth hairs, will the standard blades the clippers came with deal with this ok or am I better using the set of course blades that I have? But would like a close cut as don't want it growing back too quick so wonder if course would clip close enough?

Would try trial and error but he needs heavy sedation from the vet so it's a case of have everything ready and go!

The lady that came to repair the 'damage' on my pony (same problem as yours) tut tutted for a minute then offered me a medium or fine blade clip. I opted for the fine as his coat was very brillo pad. I wasnt offered the option of coarse so am guessing it wasnt appropriate

Result is good and i am under strict instructions to keep him warmer this time!

Having just tried to clip my wire haired cobs legs with a new set of clippers with medium blades, they would not go
through the hair and I have just ordered a coarse set !
