Its taken me three years to get my hairy cob to allow me to clip his feather - to a degree.....(he did come to me with a warning stamped all over his paperwork stating this horse needs heavy sedation for clipping!!) ... we are fine now to use hand held trimmer and lightly clip the long hair but really need to have proper clippers that can be sharpened to take us to the next step... can anyone recommend quietest and least vibration clippers please?

We got a pair of Black Beauty clippers at work (can't remember the make, maybe liveryman?) They are great for nervy horses as you can turn the vibration speed right down so it's really quiet. I've only used these on TB's so I couldn't tell you what they would be like on a cobs coat.

Andis, virtually silent and several levels of vibration/blade speed. Not cheap but outstanding quality and excellent performance. I use a 10 and a 40 blade on them for clipping Clyde and Shire feather. The Clyde is like clipping through wire but the Andis doesn't miss a beat. The Shire is softer feather.

For the body on said cart horses, I use Heinigar.

Liveryman cordless, lightweight and quiet,my cob used to be terrified of clippers, I found using these and not tying him up worked wonders, once he realised he could get away if he wanted to he stopped being scared and they are very quiet and easy to use.

Seconding the Liveryman Harmony. They got her relaxed enough with clipping that I now use Heinigers for the body, but keep the Harmony for legs, hogging, ears, face, etc.
