I bought the Liveryman Harmony's originally... hated them, they wouldnt cut through his fur, let alone feathers...
Have bought and used for the first time this year the Liveryman Red Rocket, they are corded but lovely and quiet with low vibrations and are nice and eay to hold as I have smallish hands. Also cut easily through Welsh D feathers etc.
Not sure if they would cope with doing multiple horses but love mine.
Lister star's I love them sooo much quite a lot of vibrations but if your horse is good to clip they are fast and easy to use ...........love them lots and lots
I've got a heiniger cordless which I like, but if there's a plug I prefer my friends lister star. The heiniger cope with most things and the cordless feature is very useful. I find the lister star copes with anything, but have heard they can overheat if you use them for lots of horses in succession.
If you need cordless, I love the Liveryman Whisper. By far the most powerful cordless and will do a full clip with plenty of battery left and makes light work of clydesdale's legs, which is a gold standard challenge for clippers
Will be used on VERY hairy cob with lots of feather and a very thick coat (maybe some hogging as well). He was fully clipped/hogged the lot when I bought him so assumed he must obviously have been good to clip or they would never have managed it! BUT the more I learn about him the more I seriously doubt that he wasn't completely knocked out hahaha Who knows he might surprise me but still looking for something thats not totally "scary"!
Hopefully have access to a plug point so not that fussed if cordless or not.
Heinger (or however you spell them) are the best clippers I have ever used, had a pair of moser cordless and they were beyond useless and not exactly impressed with the liveryman trimmers i have got either, but i use the heigners every few weeks at least, all year round and clip other people's horses and they have never struggled they are worth spending the extra money on as they are fab...as you can tell I love mine! I have the delta 3's which have 3 speeds and can do a full clip in no time at all! if i can give you one piece of advice it is shop around and make sure they are right for you as I ended up with useless ones and wasted my money so even if they seem expensive they are probably worth it, especially if you have a hairy beast to keep smart all year round! ones made in switzerland and germany are generally good, i would avoid the uk and usa as parts made cheaply in china etc. good luck!
if they are actually made in the UK they probably will be good but most English clipper brands are produced in china so just make sure you check them out!
Just not liveryman they are useless, the hamony wouldn't cut my lads coat and so I went to a liveryman arena and iv had nothing but trouble with them and they cost neally £300. I won't touch a liveryman again
I use Hauptner 3000, they are brilliant, I run a clipping service so had to get the best heavyweights I could, 3 seasons so far with no problems, just make sure you get your clippers serviced at least once a year.
You can't go wrong with a Heinegar handy or the bigger three speed machine. Blades made in Germany out of good steel, not melted down Russian Battleships like some dubious brands. Avoid the Chinese garbage!
