I've had a few quotes for getting an arena put in but I am quite keen to hear other people's experiences, good and bad, of having an arena built by a company or contractor. If you have recommendations, please do tell!

did it cheap 7k - used local drainage company - read up on it - told them what to do and decided on materials myself - they did a great job levelled area, dug drains put down terram, loads of drainage pipes, stone, terram then topping - boards round edge with post and big wide brown tape (mine are wood eaters and are turned out in it). The only thing I would change is that I used rubbish stone - saved me about 2k but wish I had used good stuff - cos stone not totally flat you need more topping and have to be careful that stone doesnt come up through terram.
Best advice - loads of drainge, use a good reputable company, dont skrimp unless you have to !
ps. i love my surface its cushionride and has been down 3 years and keeps them and the dog clean in winter (even cleans feet out) only unusable in snow, easy to grade round and drains straight through - will need topping up in 2-3 years time - topup is 1500 ish.
