Hi i would like to know who is the best insurance company to insure my horse when i get one, im looking at one over the weekend so want to be prepared. I would like to know the good and the stay away from companies, PM me if you prefer thanks :)

StoneWay. best insurance company i have ever dealt with. They have always given me a lovely, friendly, professional, amazing service.

when raff broke his leg, the vet sent in a few bills, all were paid, without question, the same day.

i often need to ring them about things (raff going off on loan etc) and they have never ever ever given me anything other than fantastic service.

i feel a bit bad writing this, cos i think the reason they are so good is because they're small... i don't want to tell too many people about them, in case they grow big and faceless...

also, they were the cheapest other than E&L (don't touch them with a bargepole from the reports i've heard on here)

Can highly recommend SEIB- cannot fault them with paying out for my horses when they've needed treatment. They are not the cheapest, but not the most expensive either.

Good luck with your horse hunting, but may I just say be very wary of those selling in Kent, from bitter experience a lot of them work hand in hand and are not honest, p.m. me if you need any details.

NFU :) I've claimed from them many times over the past 2 yrs and just got a cheque for losing my mare this year. They paid me the full amount with no quibbles.

Used to use NFU - very good but became expensive.
Now I use KBIS and they have been brilliant. Paid up on time with minimal fuss and were lovely when my lad was PTS.

I use petplan.Again probably not the cheapest but they have paid out on kissing spine without a quibble. Always very helpful when I have needed to put in a claim. Fortunately with new horse not needed to as yet 'fingers crossed'
