Best conditioning feed for greedy pony

I own a cob type that I really have to watch his weight he certainly doesn't need any extra calories. His coat is really quite dull though and no amount of grooming will give it even a glimpse of a shine, even the farrier has mentioned how dull he looks! Is there anything I could give him that could give him more condition without the weight gain?

I think a low calorie feed balancer would be your best bet.

My friend's Welsh cob has a low calorie feed balancer and has an amazingly shiny coat.

If your horse is a Fjord then the one I knew didn't seem to go shiny. They have a really different type of coat because of the type of climate they are bred to live and work in and it just doesn't seem to shine.
