i desperately need a sweat/cooler rug that will quickly wick away and dry him. Other than thermatex preferably because they are sooooo expensive

Bucas deffinately. Im a bit of a rug queen and have fleeces, thermatex, great for colder weather, Masta coolmasta etc etc but I love the bucas. I bought the cheaper one, still about £40 though, its thinner than the dearer one which has some fandangled fancy lining.

Best buy I have found recently was Tesco Quilted Fleece rugs, currently on sale at £27, you have to order on line and pay delivery.

They are double fleece with a thin quilt middle, only do navy blue with royal blue binding. Have to say mine are fabulous. Used on a hunter clipped horse who had just been bathed, 20 minutes later he was dry enough to put his stable rugs on. Best of all he was toasty warm and you could see the water forming a mist on the out of the rug.

They are reasonable well cut and good quality for the money, much cheaper than a thermatex.

I swear by my Thermatex, it works beautifully although it is very stretchy so would recommend you buy a size down. Only problem is shavings stick to it but I think that happens with most fleece style rugs.

I bought my horses a weatherbeeta jersey cooler each for home use. They are fab rugs! They were very smart before I got my hands on them! They dry the horses off very quickly.

I have a couple of Thermatexs and they are fab but I recently brought a Weatherbeeta Fleece from Equestrian Clearance for £12.99 and I have to say its great!! Its really smart and its lighter than the thermatex so better for when they are really hot. I have just bought another 2 as im so impressed!!

I also have WB fleeces which are good but at this time of year find they do not keep my horse warm enough when he has been washed.

The Tesco rug is smart enough to use as show rug, everyone on the yard who has seen it have been impressed and cannot believe how much it cost and from where!

Thermatex all the way. I did have a cheaper cooler then I went for it and splashed out on a new rug at olympia. Its a 6ft 9 which is actually quite big on pickle. So if you have anything that isnt chunky get the size down!

I saw the Tesco ones but they do not do them in my horses size - very irritating!

Geegee - I've got a 6'3" navy with burgundy Thermalux combo (i.e. attached neck) cooler which cost £120 new. I'm selling it for £50, it's hardly been used, in perfect condition. Not sure what you want to pay, but if you think it may be of use to you, send me a PM.
