I have a 7 year old 15'2 TB mare that I would like to breed next year. She has a beautiful nature and loves people, but is very forward going. I would like to cross her with a stallion smaller than her for her first time as she has a petite build and I was wondering what to breed her with? I'm looking for something with a bit more bone so that I get a small hunter type, and perhaps with a bit of a calmer nature so that my daughter can have the foal. I'm struggling because there are so many amazing stallions out there I don't know where to begin! TIA for your help :)

Hillviewfarm Trevelyn or Bridgeford Ferryman would give substance and hunter type.

Maybe a welsh cob but I doubt you would get a small hunter.

Another vote for Hillviewfarm Trevelyn! I would definitely lean towards Irish Draughts for the temperament you're after. My friend on here has a filly by this stallion and she takes everything in her stride. And isn't too big either. :-)

If not standing, then definitely available from, there's a cracking little Connemara who's competed, at Groomsbridge Stud. There's a first class and highly effective AI package available too!

There are a lot of good quality warmblood ponies available in the UK who will put the movement and some substance in.

Have a look at http://www.sportpony.org.uk/stallions.shtml.

I'm looking to breed from my 15.2hh mare (she is 'WB' but actually 2/3 TB by blood) in the future but as she has large genes lurking I am planning on using a pony stallion to get something no bigger than her and hopefully an FEI size pony. I'm very lucky in that there is stud literally round the corner from me that stands some top quality ponies http://www.leamsideequestrian.co.uk/pages/page_1.php their Facebook page is more up to date as the website is under development.

This is the one I'm considering for B http://www.sportpony.org.uk/le-chiffre.shtml I love his sire as well, but realistically by the time I breed from her he will probably not be available. Peanut is on the GB pony squad now with his new rider and was placed at his first international competition in 2013 when competed by Chloe Vell

Kilvington Scoundrel produces some cracking looking types, not sure if he is still alive though, he does have a couple of sons though. Exceptional quality but possibly sharp.

Kilvington Scoundrel is indeed alive and well. Stunning stallion and gets super stock, not sure he'd give you a small hunter from a TB, you are more likely to gEt a riding horse or hack type, very dependent on the mare.

Go for a Connemara they make a fabulous cross with TB and are often stunning looking. The Connemara will add sense, calmness, intelligence, bone, jump. Team that with the TBs quality and speed and you should have a cracker of a horse. Also when they come in connemara colours like dun or white they're a real show stopper. And for heart look no further......check out Portersize Just a Jiff as Minimilton has pointed out.

Commie would be a great choice, nice and safe for mare fooling wise and there are some gorgeous ones out there well proven performance sires. Great idea! Now we just all need to see pics in due course of your choice of husband for your girlie! (and foalie!)
