What are the nicest warm exercise rugs/sheets and what do people prefer - wrap around or quarter sheet? It doesn't need to be waterproof as I have a hi viz thin waterproof one that can go over the top but I do want something that is breathable, warm and stays in position.

I do have a lovely witney rug but it is pretty thick to go under the saddle so would rather something that didn't go under the saddle.

I have the rambo stripe wrap round rugs for both of my horses and really rate them they don't move around and are nice and thick perfect for clipped horses in winter, they are not the cheapest but they are much thicker than some I have seen for half the price they are lovely quality and wash really well in the machine. I have been caught out and they have been rained on and they have never been wet through it just sits on the surface.

Our horses have the thermatex one, which is quite expensive but worth it for quality. Just read that you don't want under saddle, not sure if they do an over the saddle option, but the thermatex ones are not overly thick and normally if we use them we do not put numnahs on

I have the thermatex quarter sheet and love it!! It doesn't restrict me when riding and is easy to take off when the horse gets warm and put on again for cooling off (the only downside is it doesn't keep me warm :-P). I have mono flap saddles and just attach it to the stirrup keepers. It also does a pretty good job of keeping my horse dry when it rains even though its not a waterproof rug.

Exactly this.

I got a brilliant deal on one at badminton as I prefer exercise sheets on the small side anyway and my 15.3 youngster is dainty enough to fit in a "pony" size so I got one for £50 rather than £70, I realize that bit of info doesn't help you, but it's one of my proudest deals so I couldn't resist sharing it, sorry.

I am going to Badders this year again so will check out the Thermatex stand. I bought a waistcoat off them a few years back to wear hunting and it is literally amazing. It was also half price. Love thermatex!!

I have a Witney, and just don't use a numnah when he is wearing it. He can't wear fleeces - they give him static shocks, which cause huge meltdowns! If I didn't have the Witney, I'd probably go Thermatex, with the cutout.
