My mare was diagnosed with a lesion on her sdft in August and when operated on, vet found that her manica flexoria was torn too. After months of box rest where I took shoes off, controlled walking so shoes had to go back on as she got sore. She is now out in small paddock and I have taken shoes off again hopefully for good!
She is a good doer but on ad lib hay as little grass in muddy paddock. I have fed her bailey's lo cal and hi fi lite for past few years but have just changed hifi to fast fibre.
Any other suggestions on best feed to keep her healthy and happy while she enjoys being a field ornament would be appreciated. She has always had shoes on in past so I have no clue about best diet for barefoot horse!
