I have a Cob x Arab as some of you may know since Ive been posting in the new lounge about him!

He is currently on 1 Large Feed Scoop of Hi-Fi lite, with a mug of Speedybeet and a whole scoop of Codlivine supplement, (the codlivine scoop).

I am wondering whether this is the best thing for him, he has not been doing much work before, but now is with me, is working reguarly. I don't think he needs a whole scoop of codlivine, but could be wrong, his grazing is amazing, he gets fat on thin air, so a supplement to me is unneccesary? Also wondering whether Hi-Fi and Speedybeet are best for him? Just some thoughts as too what I feel really, I thought given the fact his routine and exercise has changed, and he has alot more grass than he had previousley, I don't think he needs such a big feed? He is only having 1 feed per day currently, plus hay.

Does he have enough energy for his work? Does he live out?

Personally, if he is on good grazing and looks well then I would maybe leave him with that or perhaps just top up with a bit of chaff and a balancer for peace of mind that he is getting everything he needs.

Hes gt more than enough energy at the moment, he lives out yeah, so he has constant grazing, I think what he is having, is too much in my opinion, hes putting on alot of weight from the amount of grazing he has?

In that case I wouldn't feed anything at all!

I did consider that, as my previous cob x was hardy enough and coped fine with no feed even during winter months, lots of grazing and hay got her by no problem, however, he came from a home where although the grazing was next to nothing, he wasn't do much work, now he is being worked 3 times a week at least, with about 20 minutes - half hour's riding/lunging. I might cut his feed in half instead and ditch the supplement, as the supplement is purely for when the grazing is sparse anyway. Thanks you two anyhow!

I wouldn't bother feeding him at all if he were mine. Cobs live on fresh air! It sounds to me like he will only need to be fed if he drops weight. You said he gets fat on thin air and is putting on weight from the grazing so cut out the hard feed now before he gets too fat - don't let him get fat.

I feed mine top spec anti lam (never had laminits) but has no calories but makes sure they get the vit and mins i also give her 10/10 supplement for her old joints. She looks really well on it.

I think I will try a couple of weeks with half his normal feed, then if he drops weight, go back up to normal feed, if he still gains or stays the same, will attempt removing his feed completely. thanks for all advice everyone.

That is very light work, he really doesn't need feeding at all
