Frank is 10 month old fell pony who came from the wild. since having him this is what we have been giving.

Hay as much as he likes
Molichaff calmer mix 1 1/2 scoops 2x per day
In the feed i add
youngstock supplement
biotin
garlic
flax oil

He is out on grass at least 9 hours per day the grass seems poor and quite weedy.

I personally cant see that he has put any weight on but i see him everyday.
He has definatly grown in height but seems just as skinny as he first came.

Now i have had a worm count kit sorted and waiting for the results in the mean time vet advised me to do 5 day panacur gaurd and 2 weeks later pramox? or paramox cant remember.

His baby fluff is hanging on to dear life and just will not come off vet advised to feed copper? any other ideas.

Just want to make sure i give him what he needs to have the best start in life any other advice would be brill thanks. Here are some pics before and after but not great.

Had to add this one :)

You're better off feeding him a proper youngstock feed, rather than calming mix (which is for adult horses), and additional supplements.

I would also drop the garlic, or perhaps only feed it every now and again, in small quantities.

With regards to the garlic does it actualy help with the flies? thats the only reason i feed it just a habit i guess, a lot of people have said it can cause more harm then good.
The yougstock feed would it be fine to just add it to the amount of chaff he is getting or should i reduce the chaff if mixing with youngstock mix.

I'm not convinced it helps with flies, and it can cause damage to sensitive tummies if over fed.

I'd add your youngstock feed to your chaff, until it runs out - and then just feed the youngstock feed without chaff, personally.

He's very sweet.

Brill ! will nip to the feedstore this week.
He is such a sweetie coming along very well.

He was semi ferral 2-3 months ago now we can do all the usual stuff with him, just started taking him on walks across the motorway bridge ect.. And most of the time he is half asleep :). They are both going to a natural horsemanship day tomorrow for some training spook proofing, join up ect.

:) Really want to get him to some shows but he doesnt look great and i would rather not have the comments with him being skinny ect.. maybe next year :)

To be honest and as he is so young, I would get in touch with an independent equine nutritionist - someone like Clare Macleod, and ask them to devise a long term feeding programme for him. It will be money well spent.
