Okay BD bods.....

I had a lesson with my trainer yesterday and she has told me to aim to do my first BD elementary by end of November.

Which test would you recommend as a good (easy) introduction to elementary? My boy doesn't have great big flashy paces but does do a very good counter canter and reinback. I'm currently looking through the BD magazine looking for something suitable in my area.

Thankies,

Marie

Hi ML, well the lower the number of the test the easier it is suppose to be, you need to decided whether your horse goes better in a 20x40 or 20x60 and then pick your test. They don't all have counter counter in but most have rein back. I think just go and do what ever is on at your favorite venue and see how you get on. You can rise or sit to the trot now so it does help the progression from novice. Good luck!

41 is really just like a novice, not really anything very elementary in it.

44 easy too- but has canter loops nd a simple change at the end.

51 is a lovely test but is a bit of a step up as has med canter down long side straight into collected 10m circle at the end. And has 2 simple changes.

The others have leg yielding in a some have quite quick transitions etc. So probably best to find 41 if you cant find it then go for 44.
