I started a new bed on sunday of deep littered Bedwell chopped rape straw. I love it, deep, comfy, dry, smells amazing, but I can't get the poos out without taking some bedding with it. I'm using a fynalite fork and getting a bit frustrated at the waste. Am I just expecting too much? I did have easibed down which just dropped straight through. Or is there something better to use? I had a google and Nedz do a fork for their bedding, has anyone used one?

I use one of these http://www.equinespeedskip.com/100360/info.php?p=2&pid=4005386&ack=9 - easy to use, designed to take your weight so no problems with your back, you can flick the poo off into the skip really easily and rake the rest flat. The added bonus is that they are great for poo picking in the field. I was reluctant at first because they aren't cheap but I was given one and wouldn't be without it now.

I use 'The Future Fork' best one I ever came across. Metal handle and tough plastic fork. Mine is pink, comes in a variety of colours. Used mine for about three years and still going strong and light to use. Like a shavings fork with a curved edge, ideal for picking up poo in stable and leveling bed.

Thanks for your replies. The future fork looks good but I've never felt the plastic heads look very hardwearing. Is it strong enough to lift a heavy wet patch do you think?
