Best gloves for around the yard?

This year I am determined to find some decent gloves that will keep my hands warm while mucking out and dry while filling water buckets, yet be thin/well-fitting enough to be able to do up buckles etc....

...Do they exist??!

I have failed miserably in previous years, and have muddled by with gloves which meet one or two of the above criteria, but not all three. Would love to get it right this year!

Any suggestions most gratefully received!

I use Sealskinz. They are warm and water proof, not the thinnest but I can do up buckles etc when wearing them.

Thanks Ali2. Which Sealskinz gloves do you have? I have a riding pair bought for me as a present, and find them too bulky for buckles etc but too slippery for riding. They are super warm and waterproof though, so maybe I just need to find the right model!

They're the riding gloves so you've already found they don't work for you I can't ride in them but do find them good for round the yard.

Perhaps take a look at their website - they do have a reasonable range and the qulaity is good

Darn it! Thanks for your help - have been searching through their website, but hard to tell what they'll be like from just a photo.

You need the Sealskinz Ultra Grip gloves. I've been using them for years and they are thin enough to do most jobs.

I use these and put a pair of single use vinyl gloves on first if really wet.

Found they worked well for general yard work & nice and cheap to replace when they get too manky. (techincal term that you know )

latex gloves! i have been using them the last few weeks as i had a box lying around and i wouldnt be without them now!! they keep my hands warm, i can wash legs, tails and feed with dry warm hands still. i also have atlas gloves that are like a second skin! i love them! but i dont find them gripy enough to lunge and hold a shavings fork in, they slip about. but they are the only gloves i can do rugs etc in as they are thin like a second skin.

I love the disposable latex gloves idea - fab! Also, I use atlas gloves (which seem to be just like the ultra gloves) for gardening, but had thought that they'd be no good for the yard because of the non-waterproof fabric part on the back, but if I add latex gloves then there is no problem - genius!

I'm sorted then. Going to try a combination of latex gloves and atlas gardening gloves, and also look out for the sealskinz ultra grip gloves.

I have sealskinz for riding but I swear by my Timberland Pro gloves for round the yard. They are waterproof and the leather is tougher than the sealskinz. The are a snug fit for doing fiddly things.

I bought some of the pig skin Mark Todd ones with thinsulate lining a couple of weeks ago, absolutely amazing so warm - can't wear them to school in tho far too warm - but great for round yard and lovely and comfy.
ditto the latex gloves aswell!
