I've currently got one I bought from B&Q years ago. It takes 2 AA batteries.

But I'm aware that it doesn't throw out much light, which is frustrating.

I see lots of LED ones advertised, but I've never thought that LED throws out much light either.

So recommendations please?

The OH got me an LED one from Halfords and it was grand! I rode wearing it! Cost abit mind, but definitely worth it! Only downside, it's not yearling proof lol! Had it hung on my peg outside of my stable, and Rox 'twanged it' repeatedly against the brick wall until it shattered it into pieces!

**note to self - keep everything out of yearlings reach** xx

i got mine off ebay, it has 6 led's u can have either one on, 3 on or all six on, it also has normal torch light too, which is great when going near horses heads as its not too bright. takes 3xAAA batteries too

I have LED one from Halfords - bought last weekend - it has two settings one is very bright and the other more subdued.

Great for leg checking on dark winter nights.

Petzl!

They are awesome. Mine has a difuser which spreads light around more

I think it was about £40 but defo worth it

Another vote for Petzl from me!

I used to have one for an emergency caving light and stood up to the rigors of that very well. Not cheap but will last for ages. And depending on the model, very bright.

I have an LED one that has 3 intensity settings, the head can be angled (useful to avoid shining in your horse's face). My friends light shines in white or red. Horses that dislike the white light, seem less bothered by the red.
