Best headtorches?

Now I'm on a yard that allows 24/7 turnout in all but the very worst of winter weather (yay!) I need to invest in a better headtorch so I can catch, feed, groom, check over and poo pick in the dark.

I've got a fairly small head, so find the one I 'borrowed' off my Dad too big and the switch on the torch isn't great so it often uncatches and illuminates the ground only

Any recommendations for a good head torch?

Nitecore HC65 is what I use, it is more of a flood light so has a wide beam, I also have a more focused spot light which is a hand torch that I use for locating horses that are far away from the gate. Nitecore is a decent wee light though for general everyday use during winter.

My son got me a rechargeable, which has a good strong beam that lasts, but it gives no warning whatsoever that it is about to die. One minute it is fine, the next you are plunged into darkness. It probably is a bit better than a battery powered one, but only because I make myself remember to keep it charged.

I have the decathlon recharchable one and its fab-not massive plus you can direct the beam-also has a backlight and reflective headstrap.

Alpkit do some good ones for night runners. Mine from them is rechargeable with a usb connection and lasts hours. It was not a cheap one but is going strong a couple of years later.

Scrub that it was amazing! Just remembered at the end of last winter I dropped then drove over it 😩 good reminder to buy a new one before I need it!

There's literally no other light source and I'm a bit unreliable at remembering to do useful things like keep it regularly charged, so I'd end up spending a lot of time in darkness ...

The battery one gradually fades so you have warning of when the batteries need replacing. They lasted a reasonable amount of time.

I have Snap On tools one, brilliant to use, had to pop it on this morning when I got to the yard at 6, tho was light enough by 6.15 to turn it off again.

It's rechargeable, the light lasts ages, and there's three lamps on it that are really bright. I thought it would be a bit crap but it's so good. I have two.

That’s the one or very similar to mine. Really bright and yes lasts a long time between charges.

my decathlon has a battery indicator on it so 6/3/ or 1 hour left-I just charge it up in the car-simples

I have a petzl, really bright and light to use, have used it at the start of 160km rides in the dark and use it for winter time if I need extra light looking at cuts ect.
