I am looking to buy a new set of clippers - I already have a heavy duty set of cordless clippers which are fantastic, but I really want something with a bit more oomph to do a full clip in one go (takes two sessions with my cordless as I am quite slow and thorough).

I'm not too worried about price, but obviously would be interested to know whether the cheaper end of the market are any good/better than the well known makes. I was looking at the 'huntmaster' clippers on ebay and wondered if they were any good? My other set cost over £400 so I have a very good set already, I just want something that I can use to quckly clip out a horse in one go.

I have a set of Lister clippers - heavy duty and mains cable. They are fantastic - can do both of mine in one go and still be going if needed. I got them from my RI - she used to clip a yard of 8 - 10 in one day with them.

I would highly recommend Heiniger progress clippers. They are heavy duty and can easily do a full clip in one go but they yare quite light as well so your arm doesn't ache afterwards. I used them on my mare who is very nervous last year and they were fantastic. Can't remember how much they cost but it was less than £200.

I have a set of liveryman appollo's - they are really good, easily do a full clip in one go. I paid £220 for mine, and I don't need them any more as I don't have mains electric, if your interested

i just don't need them! they are designed for livery yards or professional clippers

I'd go Wolseley every time - I have just had my 12 yo set of Harriers serviced for the first time

and they have been in heavy use all their life - I often do 4 full clips in an afternoon with them, and they have never let me down. I think I've replaced the tension set twice (£5 a time), that's all
