i love hoofmaker, expensive but makes her shoes last longer so worth it in the long run
for something cheaper i use kevin bacon hoof oil, put it on twice a day, makes the hooves look lovely! not sure how well this would work on its own though, ive always used it with hoofmaker
Tia originally posted about these - quite a few people on here have used them, some have commented on good results and other said didn't do much.
You do have to be patient - hoof need to grow and new growth is tough on my boys.
I get them from the bird food section at my feed merchants - about £8 per 15 k. I feed a small scoop - about a mug twice a day - I have a 15 hand gypsy cob and a 16.3 clydesdale. I just add them to their feed, no need to do anything with them.
BSS are full of vits and mins and oils - you can google them and read the info on them. You can feed the stripped ones but they are not so good as are harder to digest and no so high in oil.

After six months of constantly losing shoes, breaking hooves, and a quittor I put my TB on this, an improvement was seen after TWO weeks and he didn't lose another shoe for 6 months, and that was down to the boggy field drying out and holding the foot.
Another Equimins fan. I have been using Equimins Biotin (which has all the other essential elements in it) and have seen a great improvement. They also do a stronger one if needed, called Equimins Biotin Plus.
