so need to put her on a supplement, which is the best value for money?, its for a TB

Edited to say she is out during the day, in at night on ad lib haylage. Fed calm and condition, Top Spec Super Conditioning Flakes, Benevit, carrots and handful of Herbal Chaff and I use the Kevin Bacon hoof stuff too.

Thanks

I used NAF Pro Feet with really good effect together with Kevin Bacon Hoof Dressing (solid type). My farrier also recommended seaweed based supplement so now use Hilton Herbs 'Hoof and Health' and have found this good too. Another supplement I tried was Formula 4 Feet but found this made my boy seem very nervous - although others use it and have not found this

Thanks for that pootler, interesting reading!

I had my last TB mare on Biotin and used the Keretex hoof hardner which worked really well for her, but my farrier said not to use Keretex as it made their hooves brittle!

Thanks for the advice guys

Any supplement will take around nine months for the effects to be felt. Also, the most important thing for a supplement to contain is biotin. I agree kevin bacon laurel and fat hoof rub is good but personally i prefer to use NAF hoofmoist as it is water based, not oil based and therefor the natural ability of the hoof to control moisure levels.

Personally the thing that has created the best results was changing my TB's diet to top spec comprehensive not only did her attitude and condition change but my farrier was shocked by the strenght & quailty of her hooves

I was going to say the same thing, it works better for my ID than any of the hoof supplements that I've tried over the years. Like onehorselady I've also noticed a calmer, more even temperament which was an unexpected bous.

If you are planning to feed a hoof supplement alongside everything else you are feeding, be careful you are not oversupplementing the copper - as Benevit contains copper and so do some hoof supps.

I'm going to have another look at her diet now her teeth have bee sorted, so will check out the Copper content, thanks for that

Have also ordered some naf Profeet! Should be at the yard when I get there later - spend more on feed and supplements for Rubes than on my own shopping!

My lad is on Pro feet and Biotin. He came to us in Feb with really bad feet and lost 2 shoes in the first few weeks of putting a new set on. In such a short period of time he's feet have grown loads and he hasn't lost a shoe since
