On of my horses has poor feet. They crack, and struggle to keep shoes on. I have been putting Keratex hoof hardener on, and it seems to be helping abit. Could i feed them something that will help? Im sure i keep reading a advert in HH about cracking feet ect?
Someone mentioned Biotin i think it was called?

Thanks.

My farrier really recomends Formula 4 feet also. Use it and the Keratex and you should see an improvement. I will be putting my mare o n it once I have a few more pennies coming in. x

Cornucrescine is brill, I tried Keratex and it didn't do anything. Maiden's feet are actually normal length now (she cracked them right down until they were far too short) and the bonus is that my own nails are really long now, they've also stopped cracking since I've been putting cornucrescine on by hand! Maiden is also on biotin and will be starting on TopSpec once she's out of her current supplements (it's meant to be really good for feet).

Only problem with all suppliment to help feet is that they take a full hoof growth to take effect so your looking at about 9 months before you see a result.

Farrier Formula and Formula 4 Feet were created by the same person and are nutritionally the same.

Biotin is what makes feet 'good'

If it was me personally i would try and get the shoeds off the horse for a few months with regular trimming, i would feed FF and i would be applying cornicresin the the coronary band...

Ted has crap feet but as he is on balenced diet i dont give him any supplements, all i do is apply hoof moist about once a week. the best thing i did for him is took his shoes off for two months

I use a dressing called Kevin Bacon and you need the tar based one. It is absolutely fantastic. Look up Kevin Bacon Hoof Dressing on the internet and you should find it.

My horse used to lose shoes constantly. Now they are tough as anything and his shoes stay on for up to 7 weeks.

Brilliant. Can't recommend enough.

Ive used biotin for my mare her hoves were crap when I got her over a year ago and now they are alot better so I would definatly recomend 1 scoop a day and it lasts for ages!

I've found Kevin Bacon hoof dressing to be good, when I got George 3mths or so ago his shoes kept coming loose but it has really started to improve and the farrier said his feet were harder, either that or it's the bailey lo-cal i'm feeding??
