who do you guys insure your horses through? and are there any companies to avoid? coming up to the renewal date on my policy and i thought instead of trawling the net id ask you guys first!
Petplan have paid out my claims with no problem at all. I'm still waiting for NFU, as sent in a claim last week but the vet said they were pretty good.
Always used Petplan for years but never actually made a claim but always heard they are good but this year changed to E&L (arhhh) was that a bad decision?
Would highly recommend KBIS.
Petplan were not good when I had my eventer put down, made a stressful time even more difficult.
NFU put too many exclusions on my TB and premium kept going up and up. They were good though in terms of paying out etc.

I had a lot of trouble getting E&L to pay out after my horse died of colic. It took six months before they said they needed to contact his previous owner (I had owned Jake for 10 years and never claimed plus I'd had him vetted when I bought him and given the insurance company a copy of the vets certificate).
I couldn't understand why they needed to contact the previous owner so started complaints procedures.
They then paid up in full immediately. I wouldn't recommend them especially when my vets said they would need payment upfront as I was insured with E&L and they were known for taking a very long time to pay out.
