Best horse insurance company

Is there a maximum amount if claims you can make in 1 year? Thankfully I've never has to claim for anything but with my new horse I might have to one day. I was just going to go for the cover of vets fee's at £3000 ?!?

Hi I have been insured with e&l in the past and have made a claim off them they paid out but were very slow took them about 3 months to pay up although they were the cheapest policy they send you letters saying they have added extra benefits to your policy ( something completely useless like a book of vouchers and extra cover on personal accident cover ) for an extra 3 quid and if you don't tell them you don't want it they just take the money off you they do this a couple of times a year so it adds up
When looking for insurance the cheapest is not always the best and go for highest amount vet fees as you can afford as three grand isn't a lot in vet bill charges especially if your horse is seriously ill just a MRI scan alone will cost about this much
I'm with S.I.B have found them to be good hope this helps

Hi i have all mine with petplan. Never had an issuse. One horse ended up racking up almost £10k in lameness and petplan said well two legs so will give two loads vet fees! Same issue on both
On another horse they gave me time and money extension ( claim was over year old)
Probably spend 300mnth with them. But they have just paid out on 20yrs old wear and tear problems so wouldnt send my money to anyone else. Dogs with them too and they pay for him to have weekly hydrotherapy and quarterly gait analysis checks :-\

One of mine suffered injury - including fracture from a friends horse and their 3rd party covered vet fees with actuallyvery little hassle. They are with nfu

Both petplan and nfu settled accounts within 3-4weeks of claims form leaving me - going via vets!

Hi,

Thanks for posting. Do you mind telling me which plan you have? I was under the impression that its a maximum of like either £3k or £5k regardless of the injury or the amount of limbs involved.

Do you think they were only this good with you or is it across the board?

Cheers

I was with Petplan for my Section A at the time and they were always good with me. I've since used them for rider insurance but never had to claim for that.

Recently started a policy with AMTrust Equine, another livery uses them and they have very good rates!

I have 1 on oap plan. 2 to event upto novice and 1 to dressage above advanced medium. All purchase prices over £5k. Only two have loss of use. 1 @ 60% 1 @ 100%. Thats what affects the price most. £5000 vets. £135excess

Not sure. Thing my vets and rossdales vets just sold it well? I chose 5k over 3k as it was like £100 a year diff. Or something like that! Nothing inreturn to2000! And 2 of mine have had 2 claims in last 12mnths.

*think

I pay direct debit. & the 100% loss use chap is the most expensive @ £65 ish. But he has racked up 6/7k over 4yrs so maths is still in my favour. Tgey have paid farrier & physio in that as well
