I bought a big yellow garlic block last summer - My horse did not touch it. It stayed there until the rain eroded it into a pulp!! Also the flies seemed to love it!!
I would just buy a straight salt lick - My horse has a rock salt one on a piece of rope that is in his stable and he does lick it.
Depends what you want it for? As a salt balancer? Or a treat? Or a fly repeller?
horselyx ones are always good
my lad loved his treacle one and ended up with it all over his nose when i came up in the morning
they also do a mineral one (in an orange tub)
someone i know put one in the field for their pony and the 2 ponies in the next field kept on escaping and licking it too and it was gone within 2 weeks (was a huge tub!) so cant have been that bad
I used horselyx last year but have alot of greys and they all ended up covered in it. This year got a dengie field lick which has no molassess so no brown sticky smears all over them.
HerbiLIX is a brand new, innovative nutritional lick for horses, which is neither a plain salt block or molassed lick. The unique formula and manufacturing methods ensure that the product is extremely palatable, whilst only containing 10% sugar. HerbiLIX gives your horse a free access source of vitamins and minerals so that he can top up his diet as and when he needs to. Yeast is included for condition and a healthy digestive system and Devon Bank herbs maintain all round well being. HerbiLIX helps to stimulate natural trickle feeding and can therefore help relieve boredom whilst stabled, or it is equally suitable for use in the field. HerbiLIX contains no artificial colours or flavours, is kind to teeth and the waistline, and can safely be given to horses prone to weight gain or laminitis. http://www.brinicombe-equine.co.uk/herbilix.html
