We've all got them, the ones who helped us overcome crisis of confidence, taught his balance, generally being all round awesome... so whats yours?

Without doubt, Bodey! My first youngster and the first horse I backed myself. He has taught me so much, and we are still learning together everyday. He is my boy, and very special to me.

it is my mission in life to find him and bring him home as he was sold last September :( he taught me so much and pushed me from 90cm to 1.20m in 6 months (he coud jump up to 1.35cm!!) he was a dream on the flat and i was even a tad naughty and did a bit of xc :D
i miss him :( :(

sorry if i am waffling feels good to just let it out!!

ooh and of course my pony who i bought of the same girl is fabulous to, she is 147cm mare (little girl blue) she jumps up to 1.25cm at home :) i have started competing at 1.10 :D

We had a youngster come in to be broken and sold.
He was 17.3hh, nearly 4 and iron grey.
He was easy to back and in a couple of months was doing half pass and travers. He was so flexible and so so easy to do.
I really wanted to buy him but didn't have the money. He sold for 8k.

A 5 year old Welsh x TB.
Pain in the backside to handle on the ground and when I first rode him so so so green- but that very first time his owner pointed us at a 3' straight bar fence and the horse just pinged over it, really took care of us both. Over the summer he turned into a superstar. Horrendously stubborn but so trustworthy and ask him right he gave 110%.
If I ever win the lottery I'd offer his owner money for him, but his owner knows he's onto a good thing so can't see him going anywhere soon or cheaply. Plus by the time he's 10 he'll be knackered- he was so genuine that even when overjumped as a 3 yr old and fracturing his laminae he still put up with being ridden!
But yes, gorgeously safe & inspiring horse.

I've got two, the first pony I ever owned, Boo, total sweetie for me and a complete b*tch for everyone else but I adored her, first pony I did everything with from no stirrup work, bareback, jumping, hacking, XC..

And Benji... a horse that came to me broken, and showed me that no matter what other people say, some horses are just worth fighting for!

I'd definitely say my pony! He's awesome! We've learnt so much together and a lot of the things I did for the first time have been on him (hacking out on my own, going to a show, jumping 3ft6, going cross country schooling, jumping in just a headcollar, going hunting, etc)

I do have a soft spot for a little Exmoor pony I used to ride though! Had some brilliant hacks on which I will never forget! :)

Probably a tie between 2 or 3!!

A show cob who I was lucky enough to ride for my first season's hunting... he gave me so much confidence and looked after me so well.

And the coloured in my signature... I think I've learnt more from him than any other horse I've ridden. He's taken me from being scared to jump 2' to clearing 3'9" jumps easily, and 6' spreads... absolutely amazing horse, I'm very very grateful to his owners for letting me ride him.

I also rode a warmblood mare whilst I was learning to ride, she belonged to a friend... had my first jump on her, first canter in a field, first xc jump and countless times she put up with me bouncing around trying to master canter, absolute saint of a horse and I often wonder where she is now 6 years on.

my darling sweet raff, who turned me from someone that refused to ever go near a horse again and physically spewed before even going to a stable yard... to someone that can get on a horse again. and, when (not if) he's fixed, he'll turn me into someone that goes to local shows, and comes home with the odd little rosette.

he's my world. i could never wish for a more genuine little man. and i'm broken hearted that he's broken. :(
