Best Horsey Myths

The thread further down about pregnant mares not being allowed to walk backwards got me thinking. What other crazy/strange myths have you heard of? Or what things do you know people have believed that are just crazy?

My favourite was a friend of mine got a 'horse colourist' in who told her that her horse wasn't happy because all her rugs were blue and she wanted red ones. Friend promptly replaced all rugs with red ones!!! :O

Wow! Interesting! Hehe, I never knew people like that existed :S good thing I have a variety of rug colours

I did a post like this ages ago and some interesting things came up. Such as you shouldn't ride with your hair in a plait, a ponytail or down for risk of being scalped!

Horses can only lay down for 20 minutes. Someone needs to tell Fany, as I was up at the yard all afternoon on Sat. and she never got up at all! She is perfectly happy laying down for hours, she will even give up eating to do it, which is saying something for Fany!
