Look how lovely the haylage turned out that hubby secretly made for me. 200 bales of the good stuff. Very dry, almost hay, so perfect for good do-ers. It's so great to not have to soak hay anymore. Blasted hay soaking is the most thankless of all horse owners tasks.

Can you send some down to me please? I hate soaking hay.

I hate it too. Best bit of all is that haylage is free. Farm paid for the baling, not us personally. I was buying hay in at £2 a bale and using about 35 - 40 a month with all four of mine.

I like the more wet stuff that smells nice and makes all our horses crazy!

Great pressie though - much better than a box of chocs or a bunch of flowers!

We have silage here for the cows.....now that's pure rocket fuel for horses (not that I feed it!)

I prefer dry haylage myself and hubby especially made my type of haylage for the horses to prevent me suffering chapped hands in winter from soaking hay.

Of course, I think it's a present but I'm pretty sure it's to stop me claiming I can't wash the dishes because my hands are too sore!
