Hi, looking at moving company - hoping to cut costs but want loss of use and a company that will pay out if things go wrong???????????

I wanted to make sure that I wasnt paying over the oddds with the NFU and found that the NFU provided the best cover over all and was actually a lot cheaper than SEIB, KBIS and Petplan so i stayed with them

only NFU for me - fantastic company and pay out straight away
Me too! When I lost lancelot ,they didnt just treat it as a claim ,they cared! And when they paid out they also returned an amount to cover the unexpired portion of the policy. Believe me that is UNUSUAL.In fact as they treated me so well ,and because I had no Idea what the extra money was for,I phoned and told them they had overpaid.:D.They explained that itwas their policy to do this. The folks out there who know me will realise that the biggest reccomendation for the NFU from me was I was actually prepared to return money to them. Hah , catch me doing that to anybody else.:)

You're going to get a heap of replies saying the same thing, but Petplan or NFU! I've personal experience of claims with both and they were fantastic. My vet says they're not allowed to recomend insurance companies but if they were, these are the ones they would reccomend.

Echoing Mike007 - My horse had five ongoing claims and one claims handler overseeing the lot - she had me bawling my eyes out down the phone at her on several occasions and I got a lovely letter when my poor girl was pts...and the return of the unused premium, which shocked me

They were exceptional in their handling of a very, very upsetting situation, paid out promptly on everything covered and explained fully when things weren't. Phoned me at 8am to authorise surgery that day etc

In the end they paid out nearly £20k in under 18 months - my other two horses are and will remain insured with them, because they are still the cheapest and they give an Absolutely tops claims service - which is at the end of the day what you are paying insurance for.

I can't fault NFU in the slightest.
Wouldn't insure a horse with anyone else on a comprehensive policy.

If you wanted a trimmed down tailored policy then KBIS are good.
