best joint supplement for horse with changes to both hocks

hi i no this has been covered alot but just incase anyone has foud anything newer and better dont want to miss out on it.

my girl has just turned nine and has changes to both hocks

she has also just had hind suspensorys op from a big fall on road.

so looking for something good hopefully including good ingredients with good amounts. would like it to contain msm and HA.

My horse has had bone spavin for a number of yrs. I have tried herbal supplements, IME didn't work, cortaflex liquid and cortaflex powder, cortafles HA liquid, all limited effect. I now use Extraflex HA from Feedmark with really very good results. See www.feedmark.com They have a fantastic offer at present. It seems to be the HA that is of real benefit to mine.

Synequine is probably the very best, but is very very expensive & only available via the vet, not over the counter as such.
Out of the over the counter stuff I've found the NAF Five Star Superflex to be very effective as well as being competitively priced.

My old lad has arthritis in his hocks and was very reluctant to pick up his hind feet. Someone on here recommended Maxaflex. I bought a months supply and have to say he is much easier. Still stiff but much more inclined to pick up his hinds. I am quietly impressed and have just ordered another 3 months supply.

Out of interest, can you tell me roughly how much synequine would cost for a month's supply??

My vet has told me to put mine on JointFX since being diagnosed with spavin last week. Not been on it long enough to see an effect yet but everyone else on the yard swears by it. YO's horse was lame with spavin before going on it, now sound and being worked reasonably hard.

I'm sorry I can't......the horse that I was using it on belonged to someone else - all I did was administer it, the bills went straight to the owner.

Probably if you ask in the vet forum on here someone will have more of an idea.

I'd go with the Synaquin - which you;ll be able to pay for through insurance initially - and it's bloody expensive.

My horse was on Synequin (until the Vet hospital realised the first diganosis of Arthritus was wrong)

I got it via my vet paid for through the insurance - however I think it was about 70quid for tub.

We got through the first tub very quickly cos the "loading dose" was a lot. After that i think each lasted about 2-3months.

My Boys are on NAF superflex, one has a spavin in both hocks, (and hes still competing affil advanced dressage!) and im sure its really helped him. He can bend his hinleges so much more easily when i pick up his feet and he seems far less stiff. Its got MSM and HA in it and works out to be fairly good value when i compared it to other joint sups
