Hi

I bought some lovely polo bandages however they are far too long at 3m for my 14hh pony who's pretty fine boned (Think Thoroughbred legs just a tad bit shorter). I am going to trim them down length wise and was just wondering what the best polo bandage length for ponies would roughly be?

Thanks

Difficult to dvise without seeing the pony - but a good way to work it out is to bandage the worng way. Start with the tape end where you would normally start the bandage, bandage as normal, and when you get back up to the top, you can trim off the excess.

That exactly. Mines 14.1hh ish with 10" of bone in front but very short cannon bones, typical cob! I do was auslander suggests. His hinds have a ridicukous 11"of bone so need less than the fronts chopping off. I think I take about 40cms of the front and 15cms of the back, and thats standard 3m bandages. Would probably be more than that for yours. You can get pony bandages of 2ms, they would just be too short for mine, and maybe yours as well

My thoughts exactly ^^^^^ - I have the opposite problem - can't buy them long enough!

I cut mine to 1.8m and 2m for my 14.2s. The first time I did it I put the bandage on as Auslander says then cut it to fit and measured it. The offcut can be used for shetland bandages with the addition of some new velcro if you know anyone with one (or give them to those who need longer bandages to sew on the end of theirs)!
