They don't neccessarily need to be 'approved for riding' as I currenty ride in a narrow pair of wellies with a good heel but my feet are freezing!!
Warmth preferred but waterproof!
Any suggestions?

Just bought my daughter the shires neoprene boots, warmer than wellies and good for yard jobs and riding as well daughter usually calf high in mud when turning out, so far these have been good.

I bought ariat windermeres in the autumn and have lived in them all winter, and ridden in them too (not very pony club but they're narrow enough and have a heel). I do wear thick socks with them in the cold though.

I bought some ariat stormstoppers recently. They are wellies with a suitable riding sole. Love them. Can drag in pony from bog, rinse under tap and get on board. Most expensive wellies I've ever bought but oh so worth it.

I treated myself to a pair of ariat Grasmeres in 2012... Best thing I ever did, my feet haven't been cold since, an I don't need layer upon layer of socks! Plus I think they look fab, they clean up
Really well and look
Quite smart too.

I recently bought a pair of Mountain Horse Rimrocks. My usual boots were getting knackered in the mud and then the zip broke so thought I should purchase some winter boots!

Very comfortable, lightweight and fur lined so keep feet toasty warm. When I get changed after riding the skin from my knee down is so warm compared to the rest of me! They are waterproof up to the ankle and the rest is made of tough synthetic material, however, these are water resistant to an extent. I was sponging off reflective leg bands against my leg and it took a while for the water to eventually seep through the 'non-waterproof' part. Well worth the money

ETA - also, they have velcro fastening so you can easily fit thicker jods and/or socks under them. No struggling to do up a zip!
