Well planning all through and builders booked for the construction of my manege and stables - so excited!!!

So i need to know what is the best surface to have? And any ideas of cost and even better contact details of where to get from?

I don't have masses of money but i want to put the best surface down as theres just no point cutting corners! gulp!

The guy i have building it is very accomodating and has helped to keep costs down with fencing etc but not scimping on drainage!!- he has suggested F100 sand with rubber on top - the sand is quite orange and has fibre in it. has anyone heard of it or used it??

Any advise gratefully receieved i want to get it right!

We had a new surface at the end of last summer. It is sand with shredded rubber on top. It was very economical to put down and rides really well.

Nothing to add as the only ppl i would recommend would cost you a small fortune

ooohh yes how exciting someone is very lucky. where i used to go to college the school had like bits of rubber (tyres!) chopped up! its was very bouncy but you had to be careful to keep the school level, which we had to do at the beginning at every day at 6.30 in the morning when we were on duty! crap. and they had to water it to keep dust down or something?????????????????? the school i ride in at the moment is kinda like soft wood (sorry dont know the technical terms) but IMO its quite deep. sorry to gatecrash your post but it would be interesting to hear what other people think too xxxx

We went for silica sand (more mousy colour than orange) and rubber chunks - it rides brilliantly not puddles but does need watering if no rain for a while.

2 of us use it approx 4 times a week and we level it monthly and rake the very small tracks in

go on recomend and scare me!!

thanks we did ok still not that happy not enough control xc so hauled him about hence time faults silly last fence in sj and pleased with dressage.

bring on bradwall!!!

thats what most people suggest, and good to know it doesn't take too much maintainance..... just need long hose!

is it good to jump on? where did you get your sand from? what size are the chunks?

thanks!
