Sorry about the title, wasn't sure how to put it.
Basically my mare, has always been a dominant herd leader mare. In recent years she's been in a field with just 2 other older pony mares, both very happy for her to be in charge, no geldings nearby at all, no real seasons occurring, all nice and chilled out. Then I got my gelding last sept, she goes into season straight away (expected) she is VERY randy and has always been when geldings around, (some may say gagging for it), we put her on frisky mare him on rig calm (I don't think he is riggy, more to have dual affect on her) And I'm not sure hom much effect this had as we were then going into winter anyway. We have also moved yards and now my mare and gelding are In their own field. At first she let the gelding be boss, but now she's back to being in charge.
Anyway, all calm until, last couple of weeks and we had first season, she goes into flirty 'share my hay' mode (rather than 'touch my hay and I'll kill you'), they erm, get on with it, but he then thinks his billy big boy and also becomes a pain to handle whilst she is in season. I've never known a mare quite so expressive with her seasons! All calm again but now a new gelding has moved into field next door, que my mare now behaving like stallion! Rounding my gelding up, striking out at fence etc. This in someways I can handle / expect from her, but I'm worried about her next season as she's potentially going to cause 2 geldings to go loopy and those fences did not very substantial when she was striking out at them!!
So (this has gone on much longer than I thought) I'm looking to give her a supplement again, any recommendations would be very greatly received!!!
Oh, she's a 20 year old cob, she did have a foal 13 years ago.
Thanks x
