Just thought I'd ask you all what your best memories and moments are from hunting.

My best memory will be my first time hunting last year which I will probably remember for my life. My best moment was when I went two weeks ago and jumped a 3ft 6 hedge which is the biggest I've ever jumped.

So what are yours?

Hmm best memories.
1st memory- Being a teeny tiny and been looked after by Sarah (buckybee) when I was too young to go on horseback so was left in the horsebox.
Young memories- Hunting with my pony angel- my dad whipped in and my mum was always up front with Sally |(buckybee's mum) so it was a case of get left behind or sit back and kick- poor angel had to jump on top of some of the walls to clear them.
Looking upto Bertha when at one of the meets thinking 'one day I wish I could hunt that horse'
Recent memories- First meet out on Bertha- buckybee talked my mum into it- who thought it was a death stunt- and I have never looked back, never stopped, always carried me and ever so nicely, that horse made me who I am.
First meet on Oshk- FAST.
Jumping over a wall to have a pee and leaving the horses at the otherside with Jo, only to find hounds and huntsman hunting hounds
And finally the entire season- frolics with Sarah no matter which horse I have been on, always fun, and always happy, flash backs to sarah and I taking our own line and having a play :)
I miss our ld huntsman like crazy, seriously, but Alex is doing a cracking job :)

Sounds like you've had an amazing time hunting then! Who was your old huntsman?
Sydney was ours but after falling off and having an accident he had to retire. We too have a lovely huntsman.

Best memory - leading the field over a point-to-point hedge after our master - on his pointer! - refused it!!
Other best - being field master for the day and having the longest point for 5 years - way hay!!

Worst - hearing our hunstman blow for home on the last 'proper' day.
Finding my mare - on whom I had achieved all of the above - hopping lame in her stable on the day after the ban. She was eventually put down.

Andrew German, I cannot for the life in me remember where he went to after us- back to his original pack I think- 5hours from us- Surrey way possibly. True huntsman- I remember nights at Kennels when he would have had a full days hunting- 3horses in- 11 til dark, and then he would return and after running out of horses, take the pack into the woods and hunt of foot in the dark- true true huntsman.

Yes I think everyone felt the shiver of pain that day :(
My other worst-
Watching Bekka's horse break down and have a heart attack.
My mare putting in her first and only stop in the field. She has been whip for a fair few seasons and hunted her life long, at 24 she said no more, dug her feet in and said she didnt want to do it any longer. It felt like somebody had taken all of the happiness from my life, but she is still here :)

best moments are proberbly when i gave Leslie Law a lead over a hunt jump when he came out with us on a youngster. Also when I jumped a 5 bar gate on little Haz, and being invited to the front of the field with the joint master.

Prob when I took my horse out bloodhounding, on his second ever hunt. There was only a field of 10 or so, and the field masters horse went lame so we had to fend for ourselves. My little hoss gave the lead over every hedge that day, even though he was only 3 and had never jumped a hedge before!

when i went hunting on wills, my friend came with me... and we jumped this huge jump it was 4ft, and 4ft wide.. and this was the pony who didn't jump when i got him. wills also was jumping the ditchs.. and wills HATED ditchs... but he did them!
. another best days hunting would have to be, when both my ponies were out and they both jumped this huge hedge.. think it was 3ft 6... lol even though wills got me off jumping it. wombat jumped it better than the horses. lol

another favorite moment (although quite gross), was when i got blooded before the ban took place, was one of the last "proper" meets, we killed and most of the regulars got blooded- didnt fancy having foxes blood on my face, but it was one of those things i just had to do.

Best Memories - About 5 of us heading off with the fieldmaster, and he brought us over the BEST line of walls and hedges ever, whilst a load of people stayed behind as there was hassle at some fence, was definitely the best fun we've had this season! And on one of the first hunts of the season when we jumped lots of 6 bar gates so effortlessly, I was so amazed at Castle! He's a little star!
Worst - Seeing my friends horse nosediving into the ground and falling right in front of me, I was terrified for both of them. One of her mares legs were really badly swollen the next day, and she had lots of cuts, can't hunt for a while now, but thankfully my friend wasn't injured, I was still so worried!

Following the huntsman over a 5 bar gate riding my friends' 13.2hh New Forest pony, and the rest of the field not getting over it! When the huntsman asked how come I was behind him, I told him pony had followed him over the gate. Little did he know that the pony was mega strong and I just couldn't stop him! ha ha!!!!

Rosie jumping over a hunt jump along with the sheep that ran in front of it!

Hunting on Exmoor 2 yrs ago, getting split up from the rest of the hunt when a kid in front of us fell in a bog, and then having to try and find the field. Luckily kids' mother was a local and knew where we were because as far as I was concerned I hadn't a clue. Out on the moor there wasn't a house, tree of road to see in any direction. We cantered up hills and down boggy slopes for over half an hour and I was so glad I'd got Rosie mega fit as she didn't puff a bit.

oh god that is such a hard question!! so many, i think, but some how i can't remember before yesterday!!

probably the best were back in my little pony days when my dad was still hunting, i had a cool little pony called pip who jumped everything, all the old foot followers still go on about him now, and i used to cry when i had to go home ( what a brat!!) I am more willing to go back for a pint now me thinks!!

jumping over 3'3ft on a 13.2hh - I wish I had bought that pony on the spot - little gem, took me all the way to the front (accidently!!) and carried on till 2 - cheery little soul, hope I meet her again soon. :)

Infact, the whole day was fantastic - I had so much fun, I can't tell you how big that smile was at the end of the day!!
