Hi all,

The big lad is away at horsepital (op will be tomorrow or wednesday). I have to switch him from our farms delicious straw! to a non edible bed so I can monitor his intake.

Can go for whatever kind I like so what would people recommend?

I've used pellets before but didn't get on with them because the boy gallops in his sleep so churns up his bed

Oreo cookies to all

I use easibed. I find it's best to deep litter it and take out the poo every day and the wet once or twice a week dependent on how dirty they are. But you really do need to make the bed quite deep to start otherwise it doesn't work. I then top up with a half a bale a week with the mare and a bale and half with the filthy gelding.

My stables are 10x14, so about the same square measurement as yours - I seem to remember putting about 9 bales in to start the bed but I did leave a gap of about 3 feet at the front of the stable.

Thanks Holly Hocks - I'm really tempted by easi bed partly because no one else on the yard is on it so my bales couldn't be confused with anyone elses ;) and I know how absorbent it is in my trailer.
