After a really good run at ALW (finished on dr score of 34.2) I was looking forward to this one. For the first time he came off the lorry and you could see he knew what was going on

We met Talaverra at the dressage warmup which was really nice. Dressage was a pleasure. Apart from his teeth which are causing some minor problems he did a beautiful test getting a score of 30.5 (69.5%). That sub 30 is deffinitely on the cards.
The best so far.

SJ was indoors which is not something he is used to having done pretty much all our serious SJ on grass. Warm up was manic. I should have withdrawn then as just couldn't get his concentration and could feel him backing off more and more, not just at the fences.
Went in the ring and he just mentally shut down. Felt like I was on a wooden horse, couldn't even establish canter properly so eliminated. Very disappointing as SJ is normally the phase that it easy for him.

So over the moon with his dressage performance but kicking myself for the SJ.

Will be playing BSJA indoors all this winter. Rest of his events the SJ is all outdoors so we shouldn't have the problem again.

Big thankyou to Partoow for turning numpty rider and very green camel in to dressage divas.

Perhaps I should join BD

Well done for the dressage - that score is only obtainable in our dreams! At least the SJ is the phase you know most about so you should be able to work on tha quite easily.

Well done for the dressage and try to put the rest of it behind you! At least you know WHY he did what he did and its all part of his learning curve!!

Even I may be tempted to join BD with the cheaper rate for BE members thro the winter......see you at Moulton no doubt!!

Are you going to MK next weekend?

Really not worried about the SJ. As the bell of doom sounded I just patted his neck, appologised to him for asking too much and walk out calmly.

We most certainly will be at MKEC. Running pretty late so will go over to walk the course in the morning in time to see the other ginger one perform

See you there

Have to say i agree with you. Once the boy has a few miles on the clock he will be a force to be reckoned with.

The SJ was not about the fences, just the environment which the indoor season will cure. Out side on grass he is superb.

Bad luck after such a great dressage. My horse did the same in the indoor SJ and proceeded to go through 6 of the jumps. I don't understand why the SJ was indoor when the ground was perfect outside
