I'd like to get a Pessoa training aid and have been looking the the 'based on the Pessoa' versions on eBay.

Can anyone recommend a good one? Not sure the budget can stretch to a genuine Pessoa at the min!

Thanks

We have just bought an Equi Ami after hearing lots of good reviews. Before we used a pessoa but the horses could lean on it. They are finding the Equi Ami much harder as they have to work properly.

I don't like any of this sort of stuff, this is only my opinion, but if I cannot get things sorted without levers and pullies I'd find someone who can. When you force him to bend in a certain way with a pully, rather than getting him to bend to you because he wants to, you have decreased you ability to release in direct proportion to the extra strenght you gained through the pully. You will lose the lightness and softness in the rein you are looking for.

PR - have you actually read about what the EquiAmi does and how it works? These pieces of equipment merely help the horse to develop the correct musculature in order to use their back end correctly and effectively. It's a similar principle to using weights and equipment in the gym.

Yes, I have seen it, but it's not for me thanks.

I'm not telling anyone not to use this stuff, if you think it will help you carry on.

Last week or the week before horse and hound did a really good feature on lunging aids. Two biomechanics/instructor type experts did case studies lunging 4 horses and tried them in side reins/ pessoa/ equiami/ bungee. The results were really interesting, I'd definitely try and find it if you're thinking of buying one.
