Got/will have a couple of hundred to play around with after Christmas. What piece of kit has changed something for you? Considering and equilibrium massage pad?

we dabble in a bit of everything but at a very low level at all of it!

How about doing some extra lessons?

I’d personally put it in a savings account for a rainy day if I didn’t have something I needed but that’s probably the grumpy/ boring option.

Alternatively if it really was spare at this time of year and with some people having struggled so much with finances due to Covid and now costs for petrol and heating etc I’d anonymously give it to a friend who was really struggling.

Rigsby has been really pleased with his hay-ball that is like a plastic football with tiny holes in. It takes him ages to wriggle the hay out.

In the morning, I give him a greedy feeder net, that TBH doesn't take him that long, then he has a happy hour and a half tossing the football round to extract the hay.

They are around £40.

I bought the one with larger holes to start with, but the small holed ones are better for him.

This is absolutely the only kind of shopping I enjoyed! We have an Equilibrium massage pad, it's great, the horses love it. Is particularly useful keeping an impatient mare still and happy so you can plait and trim her. Or how about new clippers? Or theWeatherbeeta ultra cozi comfi tec turnout rug which I would also recommend ? Or some of those plastic jump blocks ( am starting my winter "paint the jump wings" job soon!) Or a really good waterproof coat for yourself? I could go on.....

A riding skirt. It was a game changer last winter. I get cold thighs and they take ages to warm up again. My riding skirt kept them nicely warm. (Mine is a knee length skirt so great for yard jobs too)

I bought one after recommendations on here and it is brilliant. It also stops the saddle getting wrecked when it rains as it covers it completely.

Sherpa garden trolley in large. I was dithering over it for ages as I thought I would either use it all the time or use it once and never again. Totally love it. V easy to assemble, brilliant for poo picking, trundling feed sacks from car to tack room etc etc. And towable if I ever get my quad or whatever. So pleased with it. £160 well spent!

Horse Walker rug, I have ended up walking miles with my horse in hand and it looks as if we’ll be doing it again for my daughter’s horse! Great for keeping them warm for inhand work.

Equilibrium massage pad XL has been a game changer. He gets monthly massages anyway but this allows me to put on him pre and post riding all the time. Now i have it though, if i had some spare cash i would want to buy a new riding hat to smarten myself up (and mine are all old now)

Oh, @Antw23uk you've reminded me I've been quite impressed by the uvex hats with the led lights. I don't own the lights one, but I do have a uvex and love it - lightweight, weather proof, vented, smart- highly recommended from me

i sold my equilibrium pad. for my horses i didn't think it was worth it.

Last time I felt flush i bought another wheelbarrow :p my luxury item is a field wheelbarrow for poo picking so i don't have to go back and forth with the yard one.

haycube if you soak hay. Really great coat. comfy boots. those are all things i appreciate daily. otherwise agree with Squeak, any spare funds i get go on lessons which i love and are an investment really.

Do you have a link for the smaller ball please ?

I wanted to get my elephant one of these but he broke his hay bar by rubbing his tail on it ??

Op a 100 g linner, it just stays on the horse and the top rugs are changed as needed. Means my pssm one always has a warm rug against his skin.
I like the wb ones as the shoulders are cut out.

My HKM heated coat is brilliant. It was a hard frost this morning and it kept me lovely and warm and it is a smart coat as well. I haven't ridden in it yet but it has zips to allow you to.

I was given a financial present from a very dear friend 2 months ago, the only stipulation was to use it for equestrian means and hopefully before she passes away, so she knows what it's gone on.
As I tend to not ride so much between Nov and Feb except hacking, I promptly booked some lessons, a couple of group RC ones and some solo ones.
I've felt we have really benefited from these, I wouldn't normally have had lessons now but it's made me crack on. Friend has cackled herself silly at me entering stressage last weekend and actually getting placed ? she said it was just the tonic to get her through xmas and hopefully into the new year. ?
