Hi
I was wondering if anyone could reccomend a place to put a wanted ad online and do they really work?
I have done one previously but to be honest all i got were totally unsuitable ponies at the other end of the country!
At the moment i'm trying to find a safe first horse for my daughter to compete in sj up to 3'3'' and the horse between 15-15.2hh.
Thanks. - any suggestions?

My advice would be to trawl the Facebook fan pages and groups relevant to the kind of pony you want and leave a message on their wall. This would certainly be the cheapest method and most likely to cover people actively looking to sell/loan and passive members who might not have thought to look at regular Wanted ads.

Not sure on websites, but also try local tackshops and papers.

And yup they deffinately work. Herc was the result of a 'wanted ad' and 8 years later he is still the perfect horse for us, and always will be. There will be people who don't activally advertise a horse, or aren't that fussed about selling them for what ever reason (i think Herc was just going to be kept as a companion, or as a hacker or something)
but see ads like that and it makes them think again, especially if they think it'll be going to a good home.

I found my horse through a wanted ad and he has been absolutely brilliant although I did use and agent too as I'm not in the UK. She was brilliant in weeding out the wheat from the chaff.

What I will say is you have to be careful as sometimes there are reasons why some horses aren't advertised!

I placed ads with horsequest and horsemart (am I allowed to say that?) but horsequest produced the more quality horses.
