Not crying this time!! Decided its is definately for the best to sell my 2 year old, I adore her and never thought this day would come but we have a baby on the way and a house and we cannot afford her anymore at all - loaning of vourse is also an option, just wondered where I could advertise other than horse and hound of course which is a given!! Any advice greatly received?? Xxx

I have a rising 3yo and a rising 2yo Warmblood and would like to sell both of them but I am not going to spend money advertising them until after Christmas. I am not looking for silly money for either of them but am not going to waste money until I think people will be looking to buy.

Have you tried Preloved - this is where I got alot of response from - free and can upload pics free too :D:D

Alternatives that are free:

The Horse Exchange - free for 3 months
Horse Trader - 1 month free
Horses for Sale - free for 4 weeks
Equine Online - Free
Right Horses - Free
(on facebook) Horses UK - Adverts Page

Not all are the greatest but at least their advertised out there (without a penny being spent) :D

Gemfox - that's great info thank you very much!

As this is an international forum, i also wonder if any of you think that youngsters are selling in your area?? Maybe I could try some of the local newspapers??

I think I would marlet her as a potential riding club/ lower level event horse, that's what I wanted to do with her anyway!

Thanks for the help all xx

I definately think youngsters are selling having recently sold a couple myself. It depends entirely on the advert and pictures that you put on though.

I would consider searching on HHO for peoples tips (and pet hates when viewing adverts) before writing your advert so you can tailor it to what most people are looking for in an advert. :D

Good luck

Great advice GemBav - I remember reading a thread about peoples adverts, I adore her and know all her little sweet character traits but I understand buyers probably don't want to hear about how she snores in the sand in the summer! LOL I will do that thank you :). PS thanks for the hope, I don't want to sell her but I suppose you have to make sacrifices as a parent so getting her to the right people is all I can do for her and I will xxx

Where you advertised also depends on what type she is what potential she has I have had good sucess with h&h ( compitition horse ) and horsemart ( only when video included for a green ex racer ) whilst I bought my horse then an unbroken 3yo from horse quest.

I did use some of the free sites when selling but never got any response from them

Aaaw hun, just seen this! Sorry you have to let her go, I know how much she means to you. I only wish my circumstances were a bit more stable right now, or I would look after her for you, even if only for a year or so, until you can have her back. Unfortunately I don't think I can do it right now, but if I hear of anyone looking, I will let you know. Good luck, I know you will find her a lovely home x

Glad I could help, if only a little.

Your right 'lannerch' it does depend on what type of horse it is to where you advertise and get the best response.

The sites that are good but need to pay for are Horse & Hound, Horse Deals and Horsemart just incase you are thinking of advertising on a paid site too.

Maybe also put an advert in local tack shops and as someone else mentioned letting your vet, farrier and riding instructor (if you have one) know that you are selling too xx

Thank you for this Lannerch,

I am going to try horse and hound, she has some good breeding further back but her Sire and Dam are unknown but I think she would be good as a Riding Club/Low Level Eventer - she is bold and clever and I really think she will enjoy it plus i have seen her jump a muck heap in the field and she looked great! Oh and a puddle from a stand till about 4 foot in the air! She is funny, she will plough through a stream or flooded road but she's no idiot if she can go round or over a teeny puddle she will!!

Thanks again xx

awww thanks Becca - I know i am gutted but I do need to be sensible and I just know when we have had the baby and I go back to work we will be worse off. I dont want her to ever go without but I will have a child to consider. Its really hard becasue she is like a baby to me but like I said sometimes you have to make sacrifices for your children, god knows my Dad made enough for me :(

Hope you are ok sweet xx

ok guys, is this wording ok or not to the point enough??

Very distressing sale of a much loved youngster due to pregnancy.

21 month old, chestnut, ISH filly.

Grandsire Connaught Grey RID on Sires side, Great Grand Sire Carnival Night TB on Dams side – parents were unknowns.

Standing at around 15hh at present and is bum high so should make 16.1 – 16.2. Sire is around 17hh as a 4 year old and Dam is around 16.2 (first foal).

Superb temperament – owned since weaning at 6 months old.

She leads out alone on lanes, bridlepaths and through streams, has seen traffic inc motorbikes and a tractor.

Excellent to catch (always comes to call), with farrier and feet in general, ties up, loads and travels well alone (have only done 10 – 20 min trips with her so far but was fine)

Lives in or out and is very sociable with other horses but not clingy.

Would make superb Riding Club/Low Level Event Horse – she is bold, quick and very clever.
