Hi all,

I'm just in the process of building a new business. We have started from scratch and I am hoping that we will be opening in about 2 months time.

So I've started thinking about staffing issues. I want to employ 1 full time member of staff who has to be really reliable and will be in charge should I have to be away, which once we are up and running could be quite regular as I will then start competing again.

Where would any of you recommend as being the best place to advertise? Having looked at career grooms I have to pay £150 to place my ad for 6 weeks, It's a while since I advertised a horse for sale in H&H but thats not cheap either.

Do any of you know of any great sites or magazines worth advertising in.

I don't want a fresh from college, no hands on experience type of person. Would rather no qualifications but loads of miles on the clock!!!

I'm based in Shropshire if that makes any difference to where people suggest.

All ideas welcome...

Thought I'd post in here as well as I'm sure some of you guys will have had this sort of issue and as Careers doesn't seem to have a big following!

don't want to go into too much detail as don't want to get in trouble. but it will be a 2nd in command/yard manager position. wage negotiable, poss own horse. to start some menial jobs but once business up and running will be dealing more with treatments of sick/injured horses.

No accom, but may be expected to stay over poss one night a week as 24hour care offered. (Would be in a bed in a small area designed for such occasions!)

I think you'll have a problem if you cant offer accomodation as you're really limiting the area to search for staff in. Could you rent a cottage locally or something?

We are currently looking and have only ever had success from H&H ad. We find very few decent people as we cant offer accommodation but we've just applied for PP to build a staff cottage and have in the past rented a room in the village for one person.
