Hi, wanted some ideas. I put the box on horsemart, only one viewer who was put off when the bonnet cable broke (I couldn't open it and asked someone at my yard who then stretched it so it needed repalcing). Put box on ebay as a classified. Again one viewer who was a total timewaster and offered ridiculous money. Now unsure where to advertise? It's a nice box and I'm only asking £4000 (reduced from price it was on horsemart at). Don't know where I'm best advertising it as I'm aware this is now the end of the season but I don't want to give it away. If I put it back on ebay I'm worried I'll get people offering silly money for it. On horsemart your add gets several pages in very quickly. What about farmers guardian?

Thanks for suggestion. It's already on there. To be honest though I've put loads of different adds on there for various things and never had any responses that have lead anywhere. Was thinking farmers guardian but to advertise in their newspaper is quite expensive!

i have put my 3.5 ton box on all the websites with no luck, nice first box but no buyers just one phone call, i paid over £3000 for it in april and i am asking £2000 as i know its the end of the show session and i cant have two lorrys sitting on the drive.

Would it be legal and safe to carry a 16.3hh 700kg horse in a 3.5t? I've seen a couple higher ones but really don't know when it comes to boxes.
Mine would certainly carry a horse that size and weight without any problem.
It has 7'5" headroom and plenty of space on width and length.

others might be a different matter. You would need to check both available payload and space.

The older 3.5 tonne boxes have had a lot of negative press about high unladen weight. Get a weigh bridge ticket for ur truck and include this weight (and also the payload for mathematically challenged readers!) In the ad. A lot of the older ones are only fit for one 16hh at the most!! I know cos I had one!!!

They seem a little hard to come by and if i find one they are either near the 10k mark or way up scotland! it would be nice if i could find a cheap run around less than 200miles from the midlands :D

You might well struggle.
3.5t chassis come in two basic types. The older ones are built on what is called a chassis cab which has the main chassis rails well above the top of the rear wheels. A totally seperate box is then built on top. This means a) they tend to be heavier and thus have less payload and b) the centre of gravity is much higher causing the lorry to roll a lot more around corners etc.
The other type is the panel cab which has a steel floor as part of the chassis. This sits about half way up the rear wheels and the box is built on to it.
Advantages are lower centre of gravity so can have a taller box (headroom) and less weight as chassis is ligher to start with and requires less strengtening in the floor area. Disadvantge (if it is one) is that rear wheel arches protrude in to the box so horse have to face backwards. Ramp is much lower though.

Thats it, if anybody wants a cheap little lorry they can have it for £1800 if they come and get it asap.
I cant put up with his man strop anymore.

We have a P reg Daf with an Ifor back on. Payload is 1.2tonnes (been on weighbridge, previous owner supplied the ticket). We paid 2.5k last year but we'd struggle to get 2k now, even though it's just been MoT'd, has 5 months tax on and just had full service. A friend sold her 10 year old trailer for over 2k and was able to buy a box very similar to ours (on a transit though, and petrol engine) for just over a grand!
